City Champs for the third straight year! Westmoore took on one of their arch rivals Southmoore in their annual Southwest Showdown football game. The Jaguars dominated the Sabercats 41-20 to obtain their deserved title.

“Everyone had the hype and even if we were down 14, it was barely the first quarter. We just brought the heat and Southmoore didn’t,” senior linebacker Muhammad Q. said.

Southmoore looked to take back their title as they took a commanding 14-0 lead to start the game. Westmoore weathered the storm by bouncing back to make it a 14-14 tie game going into halftime. Senior receiver, Jacob C., took back an 85 yard punt return to give the Jaguars a 21-14 lead coming out of halftime.

Westmoore came out firing in the second half when they scored 27 unanswered points.

“It was great, everyone on the field did their job and Jacob did his. That is what allowed us to score,” senior Muhammad Q. said.

The defense played a big role in this game as they held the Sabercats to 6 points in the second half after giving up 14 in the first half. After this impressive win, it puts their win column to two.  Next game on their schedule, they head west to clash with the Mustang Broncos for their first road game of the season.
