The Jags had a very rough start to the season, but that didn’t change their mentality on the upcoming games. Seniors Payton G., Colin W., Derek L., Calvin B., Parker H., and Jaden S. hoped to lead the team to a strong finish to the season. With eight losses before their first win, the moral was low, but the seniors wouldn’t let that stop them. With their first win boosting the teams confidence, they continued to play their hearts out. The season didn’t end the way the team would have hoped, freshman Ethan S. quickly became one of the team’s best players as he knocked down clutch shot after clutch shot after clutch shot.

“This season was very fun, got to meet some amazing people and build new friendships with some great people. Coaching is great and helped me learn a ton of things about myself and they always made it fun even if we weren’t doing good,” Ethan S. said.

It all came down to the senior night game against the Mustang Broncos to end this season on a high note. The student section playing a big factor, the tone was set. Just as the Broncos thought they secured the win, freshman Ethan S. hit a game tying buzzer beater to send the game into overtime.

Senior Derek L. picked a fitting night to make the biggest shot of his Westmoore career. Derek L. shot the game winning three point shot to give the Jags the 55-52 win over the Broncos.

“I was really hyped because, I knew we needed that three to put us on top. I shot the ball with confidence and was really happy with the outcome,” Derek L. said.
