This year’s Met Gala was not your ordinary “camping” experience.  The Met Gala is an annual invitation only event to raise money for the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute in New York.  This year’s Gala theme was “Camp: Notes on Fashion,” and was sponsored by Gucci.  Celebrities such as Katy Perry, Kendall Jenner, Kylie Jenner, Lady Gaga, Zendaya, Cole Sprouse, Priyanka Chopra, Nick Jonas, and more attended the event held this year on May 6.  The red carpet (pink, actually, this year) was missing some well-known stars.  Rihanna, Beyonce, Blake Lively, Selena Gomez, Justin Bieber, Amelia Clarke, Taylor Swift, Jennifer Lawrence, and Ariana Grande were not in attendance at the “Met” this year. “I liked the theme of the Met Gala, Camp. It was a very unique theme and I love all the different styles and celebrities had. My favorite celebrity outfit was Lady Gaga’s outfit. I loved how she took off layers of it as she walked up the staircase,” said junior Shea W.

Some of the best-dressed this year were Hailey Bieber, Kendall Jenner, Kylie Jenner, Halsey, and Lady Gaga.  One of the dresses receiving a lot of attention that evening was worn by singer and actress, Zendaya, whose Cinderella-style dress lit up as a Fairy Godmother character waved a wand to create a red-carpet experience for those watching.  One of the most shocking entrances was made by singer and actress Lady Gaga who stripped away three layers of costumes to reveal her final look of the evening.  Besides the spectacular guests and looks at the Gala, the event raised a record-breaking 15 million for the museum’s fashion department.
