Finish Line
Sprinting lights out, senior Xavier Simpkins was ecstatic to bring home the victory with the 4×200 relay team at the State Track Meet in Ardmore, OK, in May with a recording breaking time of 1:25:15. His love for the sport started at an early age. “It’s a true passion for me, and I’ve been running since I was five and have found a different type of love for the sport.” Simpkins is a dual athlete. Lettering in both track and football, his stats speak for themselves. In Track and Field, he is a 4x Oklahoma 6A State Champion and runs the following: 4.3 40-yard dash, 48.5 400 meters, 10.6 100 meters dash, and 14.4 100 hurdles. He is a four-year football letterman and starts as a wide receiver, cornerback, and free safety. He finds motivation from others around him. “I always think about the people younger than me, and I want to make them proud. It motivates me to do my best,” Simpkins said.
